The Economic Survey 2023 is one of the most important documents containing the recommendations by the Indian government on issues concerning economy, finance and macro-economic policies. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presents this annual report to Parliament on the closing day of Budget session every year. The report contains all features on economy, which include macro-economic statistics, budget expenditure and revenue collection estimates, an analysis of inflation trends and other key measures.

The Economic Survey is tabled in Parliament one day before the Union Budget. It presents a picture of the Indian economy at a granular level and allows for analysis, evaluation and policy recommendations on the basis of the data collected in surveys conducted by the Central Statistical Organization (CSO). The survey is prepared by an all-party committee appointed by the Committee on Estimates headed by the minister concerned.
